Data centers in Licking County, Ohio: 12 projects mapped

In the Columbus area, one of the country's top data center markets, a Licking County town has turned one down. On August 25, 2026 Pataskala City Council unanimously rejected a site plan from Aligned Data Centers for a 200-megawatt, three-building campus on about 89 acres at Broad and Mink streets in the city's industrial park, following the planning and zoning commission's 5-2 recommendation on June 3. That hearing ran four hours before a standing-room crowd. Aligned said the land was already zoned for the use, that it sat beside American Electric Power facilities, and that it would not seek or accept local property tax abatements. Maritza Motino, who lives across Broad Street, sat through it holding a "No Data Center" sign listing noise, environmental impact and the cost of electricity. Council President Brandon Galik, who moved to accept the commission's recommendation, said the "plan is incomplete" and he was not comfortable voting for it.

Licking County already hosts one of the country's biggest data center clusters, mostly in New Albany: Meta's 562-megawatt Prometheus campus, Google's 453-megawatt site, and Amazon Web Services' 213-megawatt campus are all operating, with Vantage building a fourth. Microsoft has two projects under construction in the county, in Heath and at New Albany's Beech Road site, alongside more capacity Meta arranged in November 2025 to draw from AEP's Green Chapel substation, built for an Intel chip plant that Intel has since delayed.
