NTT Global Data Centers announced in December 2024 that it had agreed to buy 68.5 acres of land in Gelang Patah, Johor Bahru, Malaysia, to build a campus of six buildings with a planned 290 megawatts of IT load. The first building, with 48 megawatts of capacity, is planned to open in April 2027.
NTT said the site will use direct liquid cooling for AI workloads, and that it chose Johor Bahru partly for its closeness to Singapore, across the causeway to the south.
